Ambulance and Doctor of 26 Assam Rifles immediately rushed to the accident site and rescue operations were conducted under their Commanding Officer.
Emergency first aid was rendered to 28 injured civilians before being evacuated to RIMS Imphal by Army ambulances.
The driver of the vehicle died on the spot and his body was recovered by the rescue column and one of the injured succumbed to injuries at RIMS Imphal, a PIB (DW) press release informed.

Imphal, June 23 2010:
Personnel of 26 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 57 Mountain Division and 86 Battalion CRPF carrying out ROP duties immediately jumped to the rescue a truck carrying PWD labour from Imphal to Jiribam slipped from the road and fell 300 feet into deep valley floor near Mile Stone 35 on NH 53 yesterday.
