Sustaining its activities for overall improvement of the society with special emphasis on rural populace, different units of the Assam Rifles organised various programmes including donation of solar light, extending medical treatment and conducting medical camps.
A PRO IGAR (S) release issued today said Commandant of 17 AR under 10 Sector Col Ved Beniwal presented a set of solar light to a well known craftsman of Longpi village, Ukhrul district namely Machihan Sasa.
Machihan, who had been associated with the Assam Rifles through his special craftsmanship, is informed to have represented the country in various international fora and exhibitions for craftsmen and is actively involved in imparting training to the rural people.
The PRO also conveyed that medical personnel of 8 AR under 26 Sector saved an individual namely Mr Panelenmung (260 s/o Mrs Chingnaining of Teisaljang village in Chandel district by providing timely and effective medical assistance.
The individual suffering from severe drug reaction was brought to Singheu post of the AR unit on june 22 in serious condition where the medical attendant present in the COB, Singheu administered necessary treatment and saved his life.
Meanwhile, 23 AR of 10 Sector organised a free medical camp for school children at Asui Tangkhul school, Yaingangpokpi today during which unit medical officer and paramedical staff conducted preliminary examinations of more than 123 children besides providing them medicines free of cost.
They were also educated on the personal health, hygiene and community sanitation by the medical officer, added the PRO release.
On the otherhand, medical team of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector saved the life of a woman who was brought to Lilong COB after being bitten by a poisonous snake on june 22 .
the woman namely Mrs Shashar Jan (32) of Haoreibi Laradokhong was rushed to the COB by her relatives in a critical condition but timely attendance by the medical staff through administering of anti-snake venom ensured her survival, the PRO added.
