Cabinet today approved to the direct appointment of sons of two government officers as officers in the state police department and introduction of Manipur Municipality Community Participation Bill to the house of the state Assembly in its next session.
The Cabinet also approved to the appointment of son of a government teacher killed by undergrounds at Theiyong village of Sadar hill as teacher in the state education department.
The Cabinet meeting held at the Cabinet room of the Chief Minister's Secretariat today approved to the appointment of Nongthonbam Abinash, son of inspector N Lokhon of police commando unit who was killed in an ambushed by suspected PLAs in 2006, as sub-inspector in the police department after four years of killing his father, said SPF spokesperson, N Biren after the Cabinet meeting.
Mention may be made that inspector N Lokhon who survived various attempts on his life by the undergrounds was killed in an ambush at Thoubal Bazar in the evening of February 20, 2006.One PLA cadre was also killed in the ambush.
Son of assistant horticulture officer, Nongthombam Sharat of Oinam in Bishnupur district who was also victims of undergrounds, N Rajiv will also be appointed as SI in the police department, the spokesperson said adding that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 lakh will also be given to the family of the victim officer.
Sharat was killed by some miscreants suspected to be undergrounds on the night of June 20 at his own home.
The Cabinet also approved to the appointment of a son of government teacher Rengneingam Kom of Theiyong village under Sadar hills as teachers under the die-in-hardness scheme of the government, the spokesperson said.
Biren further briefing the media persons said that the Cabinet also discussed the propose bill, Manipur Municipality Community Participation Bill, and approved for introduction to the house of the state Assembly in its next session.
The bill aims at strengthening the functioning of the Imphal Municipality Council.
Thirty Madrasas (school) will also be given grant-in-aids by the government after inclusion of the schools among the general education category.
Government will also appoint five teachers in each school with the investment of Rs 5 to 6 lakh to the said schools.
The schools running under WAKF Board will be taken up over by the education department, he said.
The Cabinet also discussed the currently ongoing census operation in the state and decided to form a committee of officers to be chaired by chief secretary to look into the overlapping during the exercise.
Director of settlement office and DCs of each district will be the members of the committee.
The committee will submit its report within a week time.
With the completion of processes of elections to the District Council Election, the Cabinet also discussed the devolution of powers to the District Councils.
Budgetary provision to the District Councils was also discussed in the meeting, Biren went on to say.
No definite decision regarding the matter was taken but agreed to discuss the matter in the next Cabinet meeting, the minister said.
