Imphal, February 26 2011: Under the aegis of All Manipur Government High and Higher Secondary School Students' Union Coordination Committee, students of Government run educational institutions took out a rally intent on submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

Starting from Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School, Keishamthong the students protesting non conduct of regular classes as a consequence of the ongoing fast-unto-death agitation and demanding resolving the ongoing stand-off between COTA and State Government attempted to march upto the Chief Minister's official bungalow.

However, security forces halted them at the Kali Mandir point and picked out four, who were driven towards the CM's residence in a police vehicle.

Ironically, the student delegation taken away to meet the CM returned a dejected lot as they were not entertained.

Ground was participated by students of different schools.

The protesters marched to the office of Kangpokpi ADC to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the ADC.

However, as the ADC was not present at his office at the moment, the memorandum was received by the OC of Kangpokpi police station.

The KSO, in their memorandum, questioned the inaction of the State Government and its machinery even though it has been six years since the 13 year old student was abducted for ransom.

It also warned that various sorts of agitation would be launched if Sagar Prasad is not released within 24 hours.

After this, the Government should take all the responsibility including the ransom amount.

The memorandum was signed by KSO Sadar Hills president Thangminlen Kipgen and general secretary Lamcha Chongloi.

Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KSO Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, Kangpokpi Youth Union and leaders of different communities was held today at Kangpokpi Town Committee office.

The meeting decided to form a JAC against the abduction of Sagar Prasad.

Speaking to media persons, JAC convenor Ngamlien Haokip said that a 24 hours bandh would be imposed in Sadar Hills area from February 28 midnight if the abducted student is not freed by the same date.

Saying that all right thinking citizens ought to condemn the abduction of Sagar Prasad, Ngamlien iterated that it would be in the best interest of all to prevent the anti-social armed group from committing such criminal acts in future.
