Imphal, February 24 2020:
Education Minister Th Radheshyam has assured that the student who could not give HSLC Exam in Science subject at Lamsang Praja High School due to detention by flying squad would be given a second change.
Radheshyam gave this assurance today in the State Assembly during zero hour after Opposition MLA Kh Joykisan and ruling MLA S Rajen raised the matter of detention of a girl student by flying squad who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS Psychiatric ward as a result of the harassment at the exam centre.
Saying that the incident was a very unfortunate one, Radhehysam said that the Government would make necessary arrangements so that the student can give exam for the remaining papers/subjects.
Students usually give their HSLC Exam at the age of 15 but the particular student appears to be around 20 years.
That was why she was detained for sometime, Radheshyam said.
Moreover, the girl's signature seen on her admit card and her fresh signature look different.
This error occurred as the examination form was filled up by someone other than the candidate, said the Education Minister.
Kh Joykisan said that the girl was called out from the exam hall on the pretext that she was wearing glasses whereas her photograph pasted on the admit card did not have any glasses.
S Rajen said that one L Kapil, team leader of the particular flying squad refused to allow the student give her exam even after the Headmaster of her school verified that she is a genuine student of his school.
The OC of the particular exam centre too verified the identity of the girl but the flying squad refused to budge.
It was this harassment which landed the girl in hospital, Rajen said.
