Imphal, August 17 2018:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Manipur has threatened to ban National Institute of Technology, Langol, if the interview for the recruitment of 22 faculty members of the institute, scheduled to be held in Kolkata, is not postponed and further warned against holding the interview outside the State.
Speaking to media persons at JCILPS office today afternoon, the association's student wing convenor Manjit Sarangthem said that various CSOs of the State have been demanding the authority concerned to hold the recruitment interview of NIT Langol, inside the State, for the last two weeks.
The CSOs even submitted a written statement to the Director of NIT for immediate postponement of the interview which is scheduled on August 18 and 19 at Kolkata and demanding the interview to be held at NIT complex Langol.
The act of scheduling the interview outside the State despite the presence of NIT in Langol as well as a number of objection from various CSOs, is an act of exploiting the rights of the native people, he alleged.
Manjit claimed that the scheduled interview of August 18 and 19 at Hotel Gateway, Kolkata, is against the rule and added that the decision is a ploy to carry out different kinds of misconduct and wrong doings during the interview process.
Calling the act of holding the interview outside as ridiculous.
Manjit alleged that the decision is akin to mocking the indigenous people of the State.
He also raised suspicion about NIT staff and the Government working in cahoots for some hidden agenda.
Reasoning that the process of any type of recruitment for Central institutions has always been held at their respective regions or place, Manjit Sarangthem warned that if the scheduled interview is indeed held at Kolkata despite resistance, JCILPS along with various CSOs of the State will launch intense agitation and may even take up the drastic measure of closing down NIT Langol.
