Kakching, August 17 2018:
Amidst the introduction the Manipur Peoples Protection Bill 2018 to protect the indigenous people and expressing concerns over the alarming rate of influx of immigrants in Manipur which may push the indigenous people on the brink of extinction, AKSU was appalled to find out the inclusion of 55 non-locals in the voter lists of booth no 21 and 23 of 3 7-Kakching AC who have enjoyed full State Government welfare beneficiary scheme.
AKSU urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and rectify the voter lists after full verification of their backgrounds while adding that the relevant department must take extra precaution and check all the documents carefully while issuing residence certificate.
While cautioning that the government officials should not indulge in some petty money or gains when it comes to the question of social security, AKSU also drew the attention of the authority concerned to re-verify the background of those non-Manipuri who have married to Manipuri natives.
AKSU also appealed the relevant authority to run a verification check and past record of non-local labourers and business persons who are residing in Kakching and its adjoining areas as their numbers kept on increasing day by day.
While cautioning the house owners that proper verification should be done before renting their premises to the non-locals, AKSU said that the house owner will be held responsible if any untoward incident or crime is committed by the non-locals.
