Imphal, August 17 2018:
"When we see the products which the people in Manipur use from morning to night, there is hardly any product made by us.
When we buy these daily essential items, a huge amount of money are drained away from the economically backward State.
We should support local entrepreneurs, buy their products and cap this drain," said Dr Dhabali Thangjam, MD Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Pvt Limited.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the launching programme of three household sanitary products -Yumbi Phenyl, Konshine a; Cleanext manufactured by The Lois, Manipur, Leimaram, co-founded by Prashant Ningthoujam and Samarendra Shamjetsabam at Manipur Press Club today.
The State depends on others for almost every essential items.
If more entrepreneurs come up, such drain of money can be stopped thereby boosting the State's economy, said Dr Dhabali.
While lauding the Lois Manipur for its products and ventures, Dr Dhabali highlighted the hurdles ahead which 'Lois Manipur will eventually face when competing with already well established multinational companies and brands which are dominating the market currently'.
"We need to capture the local market first.
For it, we need to maintain quality in our products, followed by price competition plus wide publicity," he said.
He observed that the coming of successful entrepreneurs will solve the unemployment problem the State is facing.
To boost and encourage the local entrepreneurs and help seize the flow of money to outside companies, Dr Dhabali assured that all healthcare and hospitality units under Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Pvt Limited will start using the products of The Lois Manipur.
Dr Keshorjit Shorokhaibam, MIMS, MU, business advisor of Manipurtimes Shopping, who attended the event as president, pointed out that the biggest challenge faced by the local entrepreneurs is marketing.
"Almost all customers want the best quality brand with cheapest price.
We often talk about patriotism or Nationalism, but no one is ready to support the local entrepreneurs and use their products.
Co-operation and interdependent among us is the need of the hour.
If all the people in the State are ready to use locally made products, our entrepreneurs who are facing market problem will succeed in their venture", he said.
Local entrepreneurs should not be considered as profit makers.
The thing which we should value is their "service".
When we support them, we are contributing to the wealth of the State.
Entrepreneurs are parameters which decide State/ National development, he said.
