Engineers' Day observed

In commemoration of Bharat Ratna sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya's 153rd birth anniversary Manipur State Centre of Institution of Engineers (India) today celebrated 46th Engineers' Day at Government Polytechnic auditorium, Takyelpat with Education Minister M Okendro as the chief guest.
the country wide event is being celebrated this year under the theme 'Frugal Engineering: Achieving More With fewer Resources' .
Describing engineers as important contributors to the nation building process and suggesting that from the coming years participation of maximum engineers in such celebration should be ensured, Minister Okendro asked the gathering engineers to prepare for construction of the proposed building of Institution of Engineers (India) with the assurance that he would initiate all possible measures to honour the demand for land allotment.
Conveying that buildings of both the National Institute of Technology (NIT) and Manipur Institute of Technology would be shifted to new locations, he called upon the senior engineers to guide their juniors work with professional proficiency.
As guest of honour Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai affirming that she too would contribute her mite in translating the IEI building construction proposal into reality.
She also prevailed upon the engineer to focus on cost effective building construction keeping in mind escalation in prices of construction materials.
IEI Manipur State Centre chairman M Lokendro Singh, Controller of Technical Education Kh Rajchandra Singh, IEI MSC's immediate past chairman kh Angou Singh and Chief Engineer (retd) Th Joykumar Singh also attended the celebration.
