Imphal, May 13 2017:
Arambam Prakash, agent of Fair Price Shop number 141 of Yaiskul Kendra Ward Number 18 has alleged that two imposters have been distributing PDS rice for the shop and has urged the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Arambam Prakash said that he had distributed the rice quota for the months from April to October of 2016, under National Food Security Act (NFSA), to the people of Yaiskul AC without fail.
He claimed that when he went to collect rice for the month of November, December and January, the transport contractor denied the quota and he had to file a complaint to the DC.
However he came to know that the rice quota for April this year was distributed from shop number 141 and they appended their signatures on the ration cards.
"When card holders questioned the two supposed agents about the rice quota for the pending months, they claimed that myself and the ex-MLA had sold off and promised to give money to the card holders in exchange of the missing rice quota", he added.
Prakash clarified that he has not sold off any rice in his 15 years of service as an agent and urged the people to punish him if he is indeed guilty of unethical practices.
He further urged the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
He pointed out that he is in charge of distributing rice for Shop number 141, adding that his term of service is far from over and further questioned how the two individuals have been distributing the rice.
