NPF announces its arrival in Ukhrul district

Imphal, July 11 2011: With the formal opening of its office and hoisting of party flag at Ukhrul district headquarters on Saturday, the Ukhrul division of Naga People's Front (NPF) announced its arrival in the district which was followed by a resounding political conference.

"With the formal opening of its office and hoisting of party flag, the NPF Ukhrul division held its first political conference of the district on July 9, 2011 at Town Hall," said the Ukhrul division NPF General Secretary Ngatangmi Ningshen today (Monday) .

The NPF political conference at Ukhrul district came barely two days after similar meeting was held at Nungba headquarters of Tamenglong district on July 7 to shore up its prospect for the ensuing State General election slated for early next year.

Over a thousand people participated at the Ukhrul summit besides party leaders of NPF Manipur unit and other well wishers from outside the district who also addressed the gathering, claimed Ngatangmi.

Giving details about the meet, the party said that the speakers mainly highlighted the history of the expansion and launching of Naga People's Front (NPF) to other states outside Nagaland, including Manipur, besides deliberating on the future programme and policies of the party vis-�-vis problems of minorities in particular and the state of Manipur in general.

Some of the pointers that were deliberated were; formation of North East Regional Forum for the welfare and interests of the North East; respect and promote the aspirations of each community and people; safeguard and enhance the rights and liberty of each individuals and fraternity of all people; reaching out to the kendras and blocks down to the grassroots; fielding of 15-20 candidates including an alliance with other people-friendly individuals or parties in equal number of assembly segments and the formation of a coalition Government or extending outside support in the next Manipur Assembly.

Later on a short interaction with the participants brought the conference to a close.
