State credit seminar held

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has been taking up various initiatives for the development of the State with a good network not only in the valley but also in the hills, said Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh at the inaugural function of the State Credit Seminar 2017-2018 for Manipur organised by the NABARD Regional Office, Imphal held at Raj Bhavan today.
Nabakishore said, "NABARD is focussing on the ground basis of financial inclusion with Joint Liability Group (JLG) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) in all parts of the State" .
He added that the extending network of the bank branches in the State and increasing the credit flow to the desire sector of the society are some of the issues that need to be sorted out for the development of rural people on a sustainable basis.
AC Srivastava, General Manager, NABARD said that the process of preparation of the State Focus Paper (SFP) starts with the preparation of Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) at the district level.
Since 1991, system of preparing SFP has been started by NABARD by aggregating the credit potentials worked out under PLP at district level for agriculture and priority sectors.
He added that in view of the priority and thrust of Government of India, the theme of this year's State Focus Paper is "Doubling of Farmers' Income by 2022" .
The projected credit potential of the year 2017-18 has been estimated at Rs 2019 crore.
Vineet Joshi, Principal Secretary (Finance), Government of Manipur also appreciated NABARD for presenting a planned document and highlighting the vast potential of the State.
T Hauzel,Chief General Manager, RBI Manipur congratulated NABARD on its successful launching of SFP.
He added that the SFP will be a guiding document for bankers, line departments and other stakeholders in financing the priority of the State.
As part of the function, awards were also distributed to the best performers, SHGs, farmers' club.
