SoO groups engage in gunfight

Imphal, March 06 2017:
A fierce gunfight broke out between two Kuki underground outfits at Khengjang village under Gamnom Sapermeina police station, Kangpokpi district today at round 4.40 pm.
According to sources, the gunfight took place between suspected cadres of KRA and KNF (P) in a hillock around around 18 km south-west of the police station.
Villagers also heard the sound of bomb blast during the gunfight that lasted for around one hour.
Mention may be made that KRA is a constituent of KNO, an umbrella body of several Kuki UG groups, which is in SoO agreement while KNF (P) is a constituent of UPF, another umbrella body which is also in the agreement.
As per the intruction of Election Commission of India (ECI), the concerned authority had asked SoO cadres to confine in their designated camps during the 11th State Legislative Assembly election.
There was no news of casualties in the gunfight till the time of filing this report.
