Youth succumbs, Dimapur tense

Dimapur, September 05 2012:
Tension simmered again today in Dimapur after a Sema youth succumbed to the injuries he sustained on September 1 Angami-Sema clash.
But there was no stray
incident reported.
Officials however said the situation was calm and peaceful today.
Security forces personnel are patrolling in and around Dimapur constantly since the September 1 clash.
Kisheto Achumi, a 21 year old boy hailing from the Sema community succumbed to his injuries at Referral Hospital in Dimapur this morning.
Kisheto Achumi was hit by a bullet on his head on the fateful day when the two communities clashed at near Sovima area of 6th Mile in Dimapur.
The September 1 clash was a fall out over the death of a Sema youth in Kohima on August 31 after mob thrashed him in connection with a bike theft.
The victim is identified as Kivika Assumi s/o of Kanito Assumi of Keltomi village under Aghunato sub-division of Zunheboto district.
Kivika Assumi was reportedly caught by members of the Quick Response Team of Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO-QRT) in the wee hours of August 31 from Indira Gandhi stadium area on charges of stealing a Pulsar bike along with two of his friends.
He was found dead in a hall where he was detained after the thrashing.
On September 1, a luxury resort called Niathu Resort owned by chief minister Neiphiu Rio's son was also damaged by the Sema mob.
The large number of mob also attempted to gheroe residences of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and other Angami houses but they were confronted by the Angami mob.
The district administration had to promulgate indefinite curfew (CrPC 144) from that evening as a pre-emptive measure.
More than a dozen vehicles were damaged along the National Highway between Purana Bazar and Chumukedima in Dimapur on that day.
