60-room guesthouse for teachers by next year: Education Minister

As part of the nationwide Teachers' Day Celebration in commemoration of birth anniversary of former Indian President Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the State Level Teachers' Day Celebration Committee today honoured seven best teachers with State awards during a function held at the Directorate of Education (S), Lamphelpat today.
The seven teachers who were honoured with State Teacher's Award, 2012 are Naorem Debal Singh, SGT, i/c Head Master of Chabung Company Chirai Jr.
H/S; Lalthiengzo, AGT, i/c Assistant Headmaster of Rengkai Hr Sec.
School; Nongthombam Chandrajini Devi, lecturer in TG Hr.
Sec.
School; Khetrimayum Promila Devi, SGT, i/c Head Mistress of Budhimajuri Jr.
H/S; Dr Soibam Shantimala Devi, SGT, i/c Hhead Mistress of Bishnupur Kha Jr.
H/S; Sinam Nabakumar Singh, SGT, i/c Head Master of Kasturba Girls' Jr.
H/S and Thokchom Indubala Devi, SGT, i/c Head Mistress of Irilbung H/S .
On the occasion, 11 schools which produced top 10 rankers in the examinations conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur were also felicitated with awards.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the celebration, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro announced that a guesthouse of 60-rooms would be established for the convenience of retired teachers at premise of Bengali High School.
The required fund for construction of the guesthouse has been by the 60 MLAs from their respective local area development funds.
The guest house would be handed over to the teachers on the next Teachers' Day celebration.
The Minister further informed that the government is planning to set up one higher secondary school in each district by next year.
All the necessary infrastructure and teaching staffs would be provided in all these higher secondary schools.
After establishment of higher secondary schools in each district, the government would plan to pen one higher secondary school in each assembly constituency.
He also mentioned that Manipur Education Service would be soon made functional to ensure proper streamlining of the education system in the state.
Presided over by Director of Education (S) H Deleep Singh, the celebration was also attended by MLAs Alexander Paul and RK Anand as Guests of Honour.
On the occasion of Teachers' day, the Senapati brigade of Red Shield Division organized a get-together and felicitated the teachers of Tahamzam Career point for their dedication to the noble cause of education.
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, VSM, GOC Red Shield Division has also extended his compliments to all teachers of Manipur on the occasion of Teacher's Day.
30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) also organized Teachers' Day celebration at Assam Rifles Nodal School, Mantripukhri with Mrs Uma Gurung, President ARWWA, IGAR (South) as Chief Guest.
Brig SS Mishra, VSM, Deputy IGAR (South), Chairman Assam Rifles Nodal School alongwith dignitaries, Teachers and students were attended the event.
In another occasion, 37 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under the aegis of IGAR(S) celebrated Teachers' day at Olive English School, Joupi in Dingpi area of Chandel district.
Various cultural programmes were performed by the children of the school and the Commandant 37 Assam Rifles presented gifts to the children.
Lions Club of Leimarol, Imphal also observed Teachers' Day by honouring the Yoga Instructors of their permanent project of Yoga and Pranayama camp held for the past three years during a function held at Jaganath Achouba Mandop at Heirangoithong today.
The instructors who were honored at the occasion are Oja A.Devananda, Oja S.Nalini Devi and Oja H.Clinton.
