Imphal, September 19:
Taking serious note of irregularity in power supply in the district, the Naga Peoples Organization, Senapati (NPO) has vehemently condemned the electricity department for failure to provide adequate power to the consumers despite collecting electricity bills regularly.
In a release, the apex organization in the district has stated that the matter has been brought to the notice of the Executive Engineer (electricity) and the district administration for restoring power supply regularly and giving load-shedding timing.
When employees' salaries are regularly deducted to compensate for electricity bills, the concerned department should ensure regular power supply, the organization observed.
Pointing out that the money collected from the consumers is meant for procuring power to provide regular supply to its customers, the body questioned where the money collected as electricity bills has gone.
Presently, the district people are inconvenienced as power supply ceases at 5 pm daily only to return at 9 pm by which the time it is not of much utility to them.
Demanding that power supply should be ensured during peak hours, NPO appealed to department officials to make necessary arrangement for supplying power to the district to suit the need of the people.
