Imphal, July 18:
Taking serious note on public complaints over deplorable condition of barricaded Uripok Road, MAHUD Minister Laishram Nandakumar has asked National Buildings Construction Committee (NBCC) to repair the said road at the earliest.
It is the responsibility of the NBCC, which is engaged in construction of Bir Tikendrajit Flyover, to construct/repair the stretch of road occupied by the length of the flyover, Nandakumar told The Sangai Express yesterday.
Nandakumar informed that the southern flank of the barricaded road is constructed by NBCC but the northern side has been left untouched, thereby causing lot of inconvenience to the public.
If the NBCC authorities fail to repair the said road stretch, the State Government should take up the task at its own cost, he suggested, and added that the amount spent could be reimbursed from the NBCC.
The Minister also insisted upon the NBCC authorities to expedite the flyover construction work to ease traffic congestion.
