Imphal, May 29 2021:
A project for constructing an elevated highway in the State has been incorporated in the work programme of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for the financial year 2021-22 .
The proposed highway, which would be centred at Traffic Rotary in front of the Governor's bungalow will reach up to Airport on Tiddim Road, Koirengei on Dimapur road and Meitei Lamkhai near Lilong Bridge.
According to a reliable information from the National Highway Division of PWD, the proposed elevated highway would be 25 kms long and will have four lanes.
It is reported that K&J Projects Pvt.
Ltd, a company based in Nagpur, Maharashtra will be making the DPR of the project after assessing the proposed sites for the construction.
Though making DPR is not that time consuming, the restriction placed on movements is making it difficult for the consultant to assess the proposed sites, according to the source.
The project will be sanctioned only after the DPR is submitted, continued the source.
The source further stated that the Ministry has also incorporated fund for constructing a two-lane road on Sangsak-Tengnoupal road (NH-102 A) and for widening the stretch from Wahengbam Leikai to Kakching Lamkhai that passes via Mayai Lambi.
