Arrested UPPK activists remanded to 15 days police custody

Imphal, June 23 2012:
An Imphal West Court has today remanded the four outlawed UPPK activists including its general secretary, Shanti, who were arrested from Patna Railway Station recently, to 15 days police custody.
A source said the four United Peoples Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) activists were arrested from Patna Railway Station on June 17 last by a team of Manipur Police led by N Modhunimai, SDPO of Imphal West district police with logistic support from Bihar Police.
The activists were brought here after a transit remand was obtained from Patna Railway Magistrate.
The four activists were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West today and subsequently remanded to 15-day police custody.
An FIR case has also been registered against them at Imphal Police Station.
The arrested militants were identified as general secretary of the outfit, Ningthoujam Shanti alias Chinglemba (45) of Wahengbam Leikai; its finance secretary Langpoklakpam Birjit alias Inaocha (40) of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai; SS Maj Elangbam Bobo alias Kha-nganba, (35) a CO; and SS Captain L Jiten alias Selkai (34) of Karimganj district in Assam.
