Imphal, December 22 2014:
The State Government is hoping to start giving pay scales recommended by the 6th Pay Commission to teachers of Government-aided schools once the 14 Finance Commission becomes effective, stated Education Minister M Okendro in the State Assembly today.
MLA L Ibomcha raised a motion in public interest about extension of 6th Pay Commission's recommendations to aided school teachers after identifying schools where there are healthy numbers of students and diligent teachers.
Joining the discussion, M Okendro admitted that salaries given to aided school teachers are small and again the meagre salaries are shared with unapproved teachers.
Nonetheless, aided school teachers have been paid their monthly salaries regularly even though it is small.
The Government has initiated some measures for the welfare of Government-aided schools.
One among them is filling vacant posts of teachers.
Larger share of the teachers' salaries are paid from non-plan head and there are many aided schools which are functioning quite smoothly and efficiently.
The Government is hoping to extend recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission to aided school teachers when the 14th Finance Commission becomes effective next year.
