Seminar on history of Langol held

Tourism Development Society, Langol (TDSL) conducted a one-day seminar on the History of Langol at Shija Auditorium today.
Advocate Khaidem Mani moderated the seminar.
Research Forum Manipur president Naoroibam Indramani, retired Professor Soram Lokeshwar and Tarung Village Authority chairman Aguichung Kamei spoke on the 'Physical features of Langol hill', 'Lamphelpat and its past' and 'Early settlers of Langol' respectively.
Speaking at the seminar, TDSL chairman Moirangthem Tombi said the TDSL was constituted with an aim to restore the natural richness of Langol village.
The seminar aims to shed light on the history of the place, the original settlers and how they lived.
He further urged the residents of Langol to support the society in promoting Langol into a tourist spot.
On the other hand, TDSL hosted USPA (United States Polo Association) women's polo team and their officials to a cultural programme at Langol yesterday.
The USPA was accompanied by a team from the travel magazine and Conde Nast Traveller.
Amateur dance groups showcased the tribal spring dances of Tangkhul and the Zeliangrong in the programme.
Local girls adorned the visiting Americans with tribal head dress and jewelleries who later joined in the dance.
An atmosphere of camaraderie, friendship and cultural exchanges emerged spontaneously.
The villagers later served local dishes to the visiting guests.
The event concluded with the visitors trekking half way up the Langol hills to savour the stunning beauty of the Imphal valley.
