Sahnit Ni for justice : KISH

The Kuki Inpi, Sadar Hills [KISH] under the aegis of Kuki Inpi, Manipur [KIM] has asserted that the annual observation of 'Sahnit Ni' (Black Day) is mainly for justice, and nothing communal should be read into it.
As per the instruction of the Kuki Inpi, Manipur, KISH has instructed its five Lhang Inpi viz.
Gunhom Lhang, Saikul Gamkai, Moltam Lhang, Twilang (IT Road) Lhang and Kangchup Twibul Lhang, to organize the observation of Sahnit Ni in their respective areas peacefully and effectively with mass participation if possible in one convenient place.
N Sehjalien Gangte, Thuchingpipu [gen secretary] said that during the NSCN (IM) led Naga aggression and the coordinated attack on the innocent Kukis between 1992 and 1997, over 906 innocent Kukis were killed and 360 Kuki villages were uprooted, displacing nearly one lakh villagers.
"The NSCN (IM) can lie about their transgressions but the blood stain on their hands will not be washed, except when forgiven and due reconciliation takes place", asserted the general secretary of KISH.
He continued that while the expectation of the Kuki community that the Central Government will deliver justice to the victims has been blatantly ignored till date, the Central Government looks like as if it is more keen on settling the NSCN-IM led Naga political issue, which has hurt the sentiments of the Kukis.
The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Manipur, therefore, urge all right thinking denizens of the country irrespective of communities to come forward in helping the innocent Kukis get justice and help in awakening the Government of India, said the general secretary of KISH.
While instructing its Lhang Inpi on the observation of this year's Sahnit Ni in Sadar Hills, N Sehjalien Gangte said that denizens of the five Lhang Inpi under the jurisdiction of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills must hoist a black flag in their respective household while donning black clothes on September 13 .
He also appealed to all civil society organizations of Sadar Hills including KSO, KWU, Thadou Inpi, TSA, TYA, TWA and other civil bodies from different communities to be a pool of resource for the concerned Lhang Inpi in connection with the Sahnit Ni observation mainly because of justice.
He further said that in Gunhom Lhang, Sahnit Ni will be observed at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi but in case of weather disturbance the event will be observed at KCC and added that all business establishment within Kangpokpi town will be closed from 10 am till 1 pm as the observation will take place in the town.
However, vehicular movement along National Highway 2 will not be disturbed since the observation is not meant to harass or distress anybody, he said and added that while tagging a black flag on all the vehicles of Kukis plying along the highway is a must, it is the humble plea to other community to tag a small black flag on their vehicles if possible, so as to show support and cooperation towards the prayer of the Kukis for justice.
