JCILPS fetes Kh Ratan

Soon after his release from prison, JCILPS' former convenor Khomdram Ratan was accorded at warm reception at their Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai office this evening.
Led by JCILPS convenor in-charge BK Moirangcha, volunteers of JCILPS, its students' wing and women garlanded Ratan and he was accorded a hero's welcome.
Speaking at the gathering, BK Moirangcha said that they would carry on the ongoing mass movement for protection of indigenous peoples of the land in consultation with the former convenor.
He recounted how the State Government declared Kh Ratan as a wanted man together with a reward of Rs five lakh seeking information that will lead to his arrest and the subsequent resignation of Ratan from JCILPS.
Kh Ratan pledged that he would take part in the ongoing mass movement aimed at enacting a Constitutional safeguard for protection of indigenous peoples.
He said that he felt elated on being able to mingle with the masses after a gap of about three months.
"I feel proud of the days when I was lodged in the lock-up and jail for it was a part of the mass movement and an episode in my life", Ratan said.
Ratan was arrested from Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall in the night of August 17 while he was taking part in the relay hunger strike staged there.
Ratan was also accorded a warm reception by the Singjamei JAC at Singjamei Thongkhong.
