Imphal, October 05 2011:
With no sign that the agitation over Sadar hills district demand would ease soon, uncertainty hangs over the repairing work of the road between Kanglatongbi and Henbung along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road).
Sources in the State Public Works Department (PWD) said that since there is need for repairing work along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimpur Road), the Department has already made necessary preparation in this regard.
Sources informed that the material mobilisation for the first phase of the repairing work to be carried out from Imphal to Kanglatongbi has been started and preparations are being made to leave the work in between Kanglatongbi and Henbung and then go ahead from Henbung to Mao.
Portions of the road have also been dug up during the current SHDDC agitation.

The Department is apprehensive of the possible outcome of machine and material mobilisation for repairing the road stretch from Kanglatongbi to Henbung in view of the ongoing agitation over Sadar hills district demand, sources pointed out, while recalling the torching of hotmix plant and other machineries.
Major construction work along the NH-2 is to be carried out after completing the repairing work although the Ministry of Transport had sanctioned the required fund for 2010-2011 only for the major works .
