Imphal, October 05 2011:
Even though the neighbouring villages of Nagaland have witnessed maximum development in the recent time, the people of Hamai area of Manipur's Tamenglong district are still reeling under intense undervelopment.
In a press release, All Hamai Development Association (AHDA) said, even as Hamai area is dreaming of electric lights since past many years, the neighbouring villages of Nagaland on the other side of Barak River are proudly lighting up their homes bright with the power supply provided by
their Government.
It added that Manipur Government promised to provide power supply at Nurathel, Thingra and Kajinglong villages in 2009-2010 .
However, the contractor concerned is still untraceable ever since some electric poles were brought at these villages long time back.
Regarding road development works, the association said that construction of road between Illeng and Dunong villages under Tamei Sub-division has never become a reality after the work order was issued last year.
Nothing has been materialised with PMGSY Phase-VII works as well with most works are kept pending till date, the association added.
It urged the Government to look into the matter and take up necessary action at the earliest so that people of the area may live with pride like their friends of neighbouring Nagaland villages.
