72 in line for remapping hearing

The Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police District Boundaries which was set up by the Government of Manipur in the wake of Sadar Hills district demand has received 72 applications so far from interested organisations and individuals for attending the public hearings.
According to an official source, of the 72 applications received, the Committee has heard 13 organisations/individuals and the next hearing is due on October 7 during which 5 organisations including United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Naga People's Organisation would be heard.
The hearing would be conducted in the office chamber of the Chief Secretary in the Old Secretariat at 3 pm, the source informed, adding that the five organisations which would be heard at the occasion are Tongjei Marin District Demand Committee, Naga People's Organisation (NPO), United Committee Manipur (UCM), Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur (COPTAM) and Saikul Area Naga People's Organisation (SANPO).
The five organisations have been asked to contact Under Secretary (Revenue) H Balkrishna Singh for their confirmation to appear before the Committee, the source said.
The Committee is confident of submitting its report to the Government within the stipulated period of three months, the source added.
