Wungnaoshang Keishang joins MSCP

Sitting independent MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing of Phungyar assembly constituency today finally joined the Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP), 'fulfilling the people's wishes' during a political conference held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound.
Wungnaoshang Keishing, in the course of the political conference had expressed his willingness to join the MSCP and submitted an application to Ex-Minister Y Mani, President, MSCP.
Y Mani promptly gave the clearance to W Keishing to join the party.
The one-day political conference of Phungyar assembly constituency held at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Shanglen was attended about 4500 supporters of Keishing, including church leaders, students and women organisations came down all the way from Phungyar.
Speaking on the occasion, Wungnaoshang Keishing said that returning as an independent candidate and fulfilling the wishes of the people is quite a tough job.
So going by the wishes of the people he has decided to join a suitable political party where he could become a minister so that he can serve his people better.
He further went on to say that he has joined the MSCP because it is where he belongs and this can be regarded as his homecoming.
"A lot of social workers are sitting in Imphal and they have never visited any village in the hills.
These people should not be trusted by the public", he said.
He lamented that roads and health centres are not maintained by the government properly.
The 224 stretch of Phungyar road will be taken up by the BRTF in the month of March next year, he said.
Ex-minister Y Mani revealed that the party will field a number of candidates in the forthcoming Assembly election and is quite hopeful that the party will have a share in the government formation.
The political meeting also unanimously endorsed MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing to choose an appropriate and most suitable political platform whereby the same platform could facilitate and accommodate different views in the larger interest of all.
It may be mentioned that Wunaoshang Keishing was among the seven independent elected MLAs supported by United Naga Council in the last assembly elections.
He was elected from Phungyar assembly constituency in 2007 with the backing of the United Naga Council (UNC).
The political conference was also attended by Chandam Manihar, Advisor, MSCP, A Shimray, T Alum, VP, Kuki Inpi Ukhgrul and As Shimreishang, Head man of All Tribal Chiefs' Association.
