Erstwhile UNC backed MLA joins MSCP

Along with people of Phungyar Assembly Constituency giving the go ahead signal to their elected Independent MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing to contest the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly on the ticket of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP), a political conference held here today has resolved to support him in the election.
Participated by a large number of representatives of Village Authorities, village chiefs, pastors, Church leaders, representatives of women and student bodies, social workers, etc coming from the three sub-divisions of Phungyar Assembly Constituency as well as leaders of MSCP, a day-long political conference on the prevailing political scenario in Phungyar Assembly Constituency was held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
After a detailed discussion on various issues including development of Phungyar Assembly Constituency, the political conference endorsed Wungnaoshang Keishing to join any political party of his liking with clear understanding of the aspiration of his people as well as to ensure success in the election and be a part of the ruling party.
Furthermore, the conference resolved to support Wungnaoshang Keishing in whatever decision he takes in this regard.
On getting the green signal from his people, Wungnaoshang Keishing handed over an application to MSCP to its president Y Mani, who was also present during the conference, seeking membership.
Y Mani, a former Minister, announced the admission of Wungnaoshang Keishing to MSCP to the congregation.
Later, addressing the conference held amid tight security, Wungnaoshang Keishing expressed gratitude to all the people who turned up and observed that the blessings showered upon him by leaders of various communities is an indication of the trust reposed in him by the people is still there.
"We are children of one God and should live together in peace and harmony," he appealed to the people.
He also spoke at length on the developmental works taken up by him as an elected MLA.
MSCP president Y Mani, who also addressed the conference, expressed confidence that many party candidates would be elected and his party would definitely join in the Government formation after the 10th State Assembly election.
Many of the village chiefs and leaders who spoke at the occasion hailed Wungnaoshang Keishing as a god-send public leader to help the poor people and bring about development in Phungyar Assembly Constituency.
They pointed out that leader is chosen by the people and not picked by anybody.
