Seminar on "Prevention of Substance Abuse and Alcoholism" held

District Social Welfare Office, Thoubal and Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee, Thoubal organised a one day district level seminar on "Prevention of Substance Abuse and Alcoholism" at the DC Counting Hall, Thoubal, yesterday.
The seminar focussed on the need and role of every section of the society in the prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism.
The programme was attended by N Bandana Devi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal; Koijam Shantibala Devi, Professor and HOD, Psychiatry department, JNIMS; Dr Rk Nimai Singh, IAS (retired) and A Basantakumar Singh, State Level Coordinating Agency, Manipur as presidium members.
Addressing the programme, N Laksman Singh, NMBC Thoubal member, highlighted the various activities conducted by the NMBC Thoubal and its achievements.
The programme was also participated by the representatives from the medical, education and police department and volunteers of ICDS, NYK, NSS.
N Bandana Devi briefed stressed on the need to generate awareness on drug abuse and appealed the gathering to join hands in the prevention of drug abuse.
Koijam Shantibala Devi talked about the need for prevention of substance abuse and alcoholism and various factors leading to drug abuse, its effects on the physical, mental well being of the person and the society at large.
DR Rk Nimai Singh also spoke on "Role of every section of the society in prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism" .
The seminar culminated with the vote of thanks by A Kameshwar Singh, DSWO Thoubal.
