Imphal, June 20 2017:
The Kangpokpi Deputy Commissioner, through a wireless message, has informed the State Government that heavy vehicles would not be able to ply on Imphal-Mao highway if the highway is not repaired at the earliest.
Highlighting the highly dilapidated condition of the highway which has been aggravated by the recent spate of heavy rainfall and continuous movement of loaded trucks, the DC informed the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Commissioner (Works) and PWD Chief Engineer to fill up potholes and repair retaining walls along Gamgiphai-Hengbung section as an immediate measure.
The wireless message further informed that heavy vehicles transporting essential commodities would not be able to ply on the highway if the Koubru Leikha section is not repaired on priority basis.
The highway section damaged by June 13 flood at Kalapahar and the Kalapahar bridge need examination by experts, it mentioned.
