Imphal, Jul 10:
Claiming the responsibility for the killing of one Salam Chandramohan, an ex-service man at Jiribam on June 28, the proscribed UNLF today said that the death sentence was given as he was acting as an informer of the Indian security force.
In a statement, the outfit said that numerous reports were received that Chandramohan was acting as an agent of the security force and added that in March, Chandramohan identified a UNLF Sgt named Apabi and had him arrested from Jiribam Higher Secondary School.
To interrogate Chandramohan, two UNLF cadres were sent to summon him, said the statement and added that since he was guilty Chandramohan refused to come and instead tried to snatch the weapon from one of the cadres.
A scuffle ensued and the other cadre was forced to join in and kill Chandramohan, said the statement.
Not only this, but it has also come to light that a younger sister of Chandramohan has been visiting the canteen opened at the security force camp at Jiribam at least 5 to 6 times a month, said UNLF.
This needs close scrutiny.
The woman in question here has been visiting the security post despite the Manorama and Sanjita case, said the UNLF and recalled that Sanjita took her own life after she was raped by the security personnel at Jiribam.
The agenda of the security personnel is to use the service of some unscrupulous elements by doling out certain material benefits, said UNLF and added that eliminating such elements so that the Manoramas and Sajitas can be saved is the need of the hour.
