Imphal, Jul 10:
'Embroidery training that we have undergone go wasted as we could not purchase the machines.
But now since machines which can be used both for the purposes of embroidery and tailoring have been provided, we could contribute in the income of the family and make ourselves financially independent', said Moirangthem Ibemma.
Ibemma, who is among 30 young women who have been benefited from the six-month vocational training programme on tailoring and embroidery conducted by ICM under the sponsorship of NEC, Shill ong, said she had learnt many new things during the training programme.
Another trainee, Oinam Sangita said apart from some minor problems like malfunctioning of the machines and inadequate number of machines kept at the disposal of the trainees, they did not face any major crisis.
However, we missed the chance of learning more due to imposition of frequent bandh, blockade and strike, she hastened to add.
'We would make use of the knowledge and make ourselves financially independent' seems to be the common refrain of Ibemma, Sangita and their co-trainees who have been benefited from the training programme.
The concluding function of the training programme was held at Kiyamba Community Hall, Bishnupur today and 30 tailoring machines were distributed among the trainees.
