Students of the Johnstone Higher Secondary School who tried set on fire effigies of Education Minister L Nandakumar and Commissioner RK Angousana were arrested by a team of City police before the effigies could be torched.
The students have been demanding a replacement teacher before the transfer of their Commerce teacher is affected.
The effigies kept hidden in the southern side of GM hall was discovered by police and some students have also been arrested.
In protest against the transfer of their teacher, the Johnstone School students have earlier staged sit-in-protest on July 1 and 8.The Johnstone school students maintained that they did not intent to interfere in administrative matters but they would tolerate any design to understaff the school.
