The State Police seized 1728 assorted arms since 1990 till date, stated Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in response to a query put up by MLA Morung Makunga during question hour of the State Assembly session today.
To another associated question raised by the MLA whether the State Government has any plan to issue the seized weapons to the State force, Ibobi said there is no such plan to issue weapons seized from anti-social elements to State force.
The Chief Minister added that 108 assorted weapons against which due legal processes were completed have been disposed off.
Responding to another query put up by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy, Ibobi admitted that the CT Scan machine installed at RIMS has been out of service since the last part of 2006. Quoting a report furnished by RIMS, Ibobi said that due process is being made to procure a new CT Scan machine.
The State Government has also written to RIMS authority to complete the procurement process at the earliest in public interest, Ibobi informed the House.
Minor Irrigation Minister N Loken, responding to a query raised by MLA Dr I Ibohalbi, clarified that there was no plan to draw water from Loktak through Imphal Low Main Canal nor any plan to provide irrigation facilities to farmers cultivating vegetables.
Nevertheless, he assured the House that he would look into what can be done in consultation with the IFC Minister.
Replying to a question put up by Doukhomang Khongsai, Revenue Minister Th Debendra said that the SDC office of Saikul Island Circle opened in 1979 was withdrawn during the tumultuous period of 2000.Moreover, MPSC has been instructed to fill up the 52 vacant posts of SDCs.
Debendra added that efforts are being made to re-open the Saikul SDC office.
