Governor calls on PM

Governor Dr Najma Heptullah called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday at New Delhi and they discussed various issues pertaining to the socio-economic and educational development of Manipur.
Dr Heptullah apprised the Prime Minister that there is tremendous scope for promoting tourism in the State and direct air connections with bigger cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru etc, will surely encourage people to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of Manipur.
She added that skill development of youth with special focus on women and linking them with micro-credits would not only boost creation of jobs but also encourage them to become entrepreneurs.
The Governor further informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that various campaigns like environment protection, cleanliness, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were being carried out in the State and efforts were being made to promote these objectives by launching a mass campaign.
The Prime Minister appreciated the initiatives being taken by the Governor and also congratulated her for associating more people with the awareness campaigns.
He assured to extend all support and cooperation to the State for undertaking developmental activities and for promoting various socio-economic and education activities.
Dr Heptullah also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him about the law and order situation in the State, conveyed a press release issued by the Governor's Secretariat.
