2nd re-poll in Saikul sees 73.48 pc turn out

Creating a record of sort in the history of Assembly election, 46/16 Ekou Mulam polling station under 46-Saikul AC which is also the home polling station of INC candidate Yamthong Haokip went for the second consecutive re-poll/fresh poll today under tight security and ended peacefully with 73.48 pc turn out.
46/16 Ekou Mulam polling station went to polls on March 4 in phase I of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election along with other 53 polling stations in 46-Saikul AC while re-poll/fresh poll was ordered in the particular polling station on March 9 stating that the CCTV camera fitted inside the polling station was not working during the poll on March 4 .
However, another re-poll was declared by the ECI for March 10 .

The consecutively conducted re-poll had annoyed the voters of the polling station concerned who said that such an incident has never happened before in the history of adult franchise ever since India gained independence in 1947 .
An emotional Nenghoi Hangshing, a Congress supporter standing in queue for the third time to cast her vote at Ekou Mulam polling station said that this was the first time in her life that she had witnessed re-poll twice consecutively ever since she started exercising her voting rights 25 years back.
A young lady Hahat, who is also a supporter of Congress party termed the poll in Saikul AC as 'confusing and very disturbing' stating that the voters of Ekou Mulam polling station had to line up for the re-poll for the second time.
INC candidate Yamthong Haokip also expressed his discontentment over the conduct of re-poll for the second time in his home polling station.
Three (3) section of Central Para-Military Forces were deployed in the second re-poll along with district police and Assam Rifles personnel.
