Five CorCom activists nabbed

Imphal West District Police have apprehended five activists of the CorCom, a conglomerate of seven different militant outfits and recovered two hand grenades.
Speaking to media persons this afternoon, Imphal West SDPO Madhunimai said that one activist of PREPAK, a constituent party of CorCom was pulled up yesterday afternoon following which four other activists of the CorCom were also apprehended.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, one Seram Sanatomba (42) of Karam Makha Leikai was pulled up from Moirangkhom area yesterday afternoon.
Seram Sanatomba is Councillor of Lilong Chajing Nagar Panchayat Ward No 6. Acting on his disclosure, Paonam Santa (40) of the same locality who is Member of the same ward was also pulled up.
After their arrest, Maibam Michael alias Lemba (37) of Chajing Chingkhong Leikai, Chongtham Bobicha (40) of Chingamathak Ngakrabam Leirak and Koijam Jiten (44) of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai were also apprehended one by one.
Sanatomba has close connection with one Tangba of PREPAK.
After communicating with Tangba, Sanatomba sent Santa and Michael to receive five hand grenades which was brought by an unidentified PREPAK cadre last month.
The grenades were handed over to Santa and Michael at a spot to the East of Lilong Higher Secondary School on NH 39, the SDPO said.

TAll the five hand grenades were kept in the house of Michael and one grenade was lobbed by Santa at the residence of Congress candidate in Langthabal AC Waikhom Shyama Devi.
Two hand grenades were taken by Jiten and he gave them to an unidentified person at Sekmai.
Jiten took the hand grenades to Sekmai in his Maruti van and handed them over to the unidentified person whose location was given by Sanatomba through mobile phone.
The remaining two hand grenades were seized from their possession, Madhunimai said.
On the other hand, Bobicha was involved in taking project or contract works from Government engineering departments for and on behalf of PREPAK.
He also took loans from DIC in the name of PREPAK.
A case has been registered against them and further investigation is on, added the SDPO.
