Manipur witnesses single day record surge of 47 new cases

Imphal, June 07 2020:
The State witnessed a record surge in the COVID-19 positive cases by 47 during the past 24 hours taking the total tally to 204 .
The total number of COVID-19 active cases as of Sunday is 147 .
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 12 samples tested positive at RIMS last night and three at JNIMS.
Of the 15 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 last night, five are male residents of Thoubal district, one is a female resident of the same district, two males and three females belong to Ukhrul district, three females belong to Kangpokpi district and one male is a resident of Imphal West district.

Eight of them returned from Mumbai by train, six came back by flight from Delhi and one came back from Delhi by bus.
Out of 600 samples tested today at JNIMS, 10 samples belonging to residents of Churachandpur tested positive for COVID-19 .
It is not yet clear from where they came back to the State.
Moreover, 22 other samples tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS late today evening.
Five of them belong to Kamjong district, 13 to Imphal West, two to Kakching, one each to Ukhrul and Tengnoupal.
Their travel history could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
On the other hand, three individuals, all residents of Churachandpur district, who have been undergoing treatment at JNIMS for COVID-19, tested negative and they have been duly discharged.
Two more from Ukhrul were discharged from RIMS today.
With the exception of the 25 positive cases, 1249 samples tested at JNIMS and RIMS during the last 24 hours turned out to be negative.
These samples include samples of 76 individuals who stayed together with the driver of Hindustan Construction Company who tested positive at Lakhimpur on June 2 after he went back from Tamenglong.
Meanwhile 494 people came back to Imphal in different flights from different cities today.
