Union mourns writer Angam Zatung Chiru

Members of the Union of Associations of Manipur Writers have expressed grief at the sudden demise of well-known writer of Chiru community, Angam Zatung Chiru who passed away on May 29 .
A team of 4 members of the union led by its vice-president Saratchand Thiyam visited the bereaved family and extended financial assistance of Rs 6000 and also paid flower tribute to the shrine of the departed.
General secy of the union Rakesh Naorem along with 2 other members Sobita Mongjam and Mutum Debala were part of the team.
It may be mentioned that Angam Zatung Chiru was born on December 23, 1955 in Dolang village of Tamenglong district.
He not only wrote in Chiru language but also in Manipuri.
He also made contributions in the field of literature and published over 10 literary works in both the languages, some of which are; Pumi Pethen Sarangamna (Chiru Short Story, 1991), Christa Deiien Kachoi (translation English to Chiru, 2006), Golden Age (Manipuri poetry, 2007), Nungshi Leipul (Manipuri novel, 2009) etc.
Angam Zatung Chiru also functioned as the vice-president of Patriotic Writers Forum Manipur for two terms.
He also directed several Chiru documentary films like Derkai (a documentary film on Chiru's traditions, 2015), From Birth to Death (a documentary film on Chiru community, 2018) .
