Imphal, June 07 2020:
All Manipur AYUSH Doctors' Association (AMADA) has appealed to the State Government to regularise AYUSH doctors working under NHM, Manipur.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, today, spokesperson of AMADA, Dr Hijam Robindro Singh said that there is a great disparity in salaries between AYUSH doctors and MBBS doctors working under NHM, Manipur even though doctors from both these streams possess equivalent degrees and are equally treated under Manipur Health Service Rules.
It seems that the higher authority is not aware of the work done by AYUSH doctors, he rued.
Pointing out that AYUSH doctors are also fighting the COVID-19 in the frontline by stationing in different quarantine centres in districts of Manipur, apart from actively participating in collecting samples, Dr Hijam Robindro said and asked the Government if they are not aware of the service provided by AYUSH doctors for nearly 14 years.
There were instances where about 300 to 400 MBBS doctors were recruited at once, but for AYUSH, such mass recruitment has never been done, he claimed.
Since the establishment of AYUSH Directorate on February 25, 2015, no recruitment process has been initiated till date, Dr Robindro alleged, requesting the State Government to address the grievances faced by AYUSH doctors under NHM Manipur under NHM Manipur.
In the meantime, members of AMADA observed 2-minute silence to condole the demise of late RK Promodini Devi, AYUSH pharmacist working under NHM, Manipur, on May 18.The association also provided monetary assistance to the family members of the deceased.
