Imphal, January 05 2015:
In the absence of any MLA, BJP Manipur Pradesh has no capacity to voice any of the misdeeds of the Congress Government on the floor of the State Assembly.
Nonetheless, BJP Manipur Pradesh is all set to don the role of a watchful Opposition party outside the State Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons at the residence of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president O Malesh at Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai today, BJP State unit president Th Chaoba said that the party would launch different movements against the Government's misdeeds and misplaced policies in public interests as demanded from an active Opposition party.
The first phase of the movements will start within the current month and continue till March.
These movements would cover myriad issues such as development works, PDS, development work of Imphal-Jiribam highway and construction of FCS godown in different districts of the State.
Graft practices are central to the incumbent Government's misgovernance.
All development programmes have come to a grinding halt in the State.
People have not been getting PDS items like rice, sugar, kerosene and wheat.
PDS rice have been diverted to markets even though the same commodity is shipped in regularly, Chaoba alleged.
Rice which should be distributed to beneficiaries at Rs 3 per Kg is being sold in the market at Rs 17 per Kg.
BJP State unit is all prepared to launch different modes of agitation so as to ensure that all PDS items reach every beneficiary.
The State unit will also urge the Centre to take up Imphal-Jiribam highway development work before the onset of rainy season as one of the key projects listed among the Prime Minister's 100 days programmes.
As the funds sanctioned for construction of FCI godowns at district headquarters have been deposited in banks and MDS, none of the godowns have been constructed properly, Chaoba said.
Lambasting the State Government's decision to construct the proposed sports university at a controversial site, Chaoba questioned from where the Government mobilized the money for purchasing land at Yaithibi Loukon.
Even as the State Cabinet decided to hand over the case relating to discovery of human skulls and other skeletal remains from the erstwhile Tombisana High School campus, due approval of the Governor has not been obtained till date.
This has created serious dissent among the people.
Although 2014 passed off as a tragic year, devoid of any progress in the State, BJP won absolute majority and returned to power at the Centre.
Even though Manipur was left out of the political revolution which swept across the country in 2014, BJP State unit has been organising mass enrolment programmes so that Manipur can join the political revolution.
The State unit has set a target of enrolling more than three lakh people by March this year.
A dramatic political change would be seen in the State when it goes to poll in 2017, Chaoba claimed.
BJP State unit general secretary (organisation) M Ashinikumar said that Manipur has been retreating two steps backward for every step taken forward.
To put an end to this trend of degeneration, the State requires a revolution in the realm of electoral politics, Ashinikumar said.
