Imphal, August 04 2016:
The respondents' counsel will make his submissions before the Court on August 9 regarding the criminal petition case filed by former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan.
This was announced by a Division Bench of Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin High at the hearing of the case held at Court room No 4 of the High Court of Manipur today.
It may be mentioned that it was the second hearing held after the Court declared that Ratan's criminal petition was maintainable on July 29 last.
During today's hearing, petitioner's counsel made his submission before the Court.
After hearing the submissions, the Court announced that the respondents' counsels would be heard on August 9 .
A large number of JAC members, JCILPS Women Wing volunteers and Ratan's wife were present at the Court room and Court complex during the hearing.
Police personnel of Imphal west district including women police personnel were also there at the Court complex.
Manipur police announced Ratan as a wanted man through a statement issued by its PRO on June 2 night.
The statement said that a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh would be given to the individual who provides information about Ratan's whereabouts.
The wanted tag was announced after a photograph showing Ratan along with three others receiving oath from UNLF leader Nongyai holding a flag of the banned outfit went viral on the social media.
However, Ratan in a press conference held at JCILPS office had claimed that the photograph was morphed and the Government was trying to suppress the pro-ILPS agitation.
He filed a petition at the High Court challenging the wanted tag on June 27 .
