Village Authority demands action against DC

Imphal, May 04 2011:
Leibi Village Authority, Chandel district submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi demanding action against Deputy Commissioner H Deleep Singh.
The representation pressed the Chief Minister to condemn the DC for arbitrary execution of land demarcation between Leibi and Kwatha villages without the consent of the two parties.
The memorandum also alleged H Deleep of imposing extra judicial powers by firing around 300 rounds of bullets, teargas shells, hitting with butt and assault of 12 innocent women of Leibi village.
The VA demanded for befitting punishment to security personnel involved in the firing and bashing up of 12 innocent women.
The memorandum pressed to compensate the injured victims as per Maring customary law.
Demanding immediate transfer of H Deleep from the district, the memorandum also pleaded to demarcate the controversial area as per State Darbar Court order dated, 17-1-1924, case passed in its Hill Misc Case No 116/1923-24 .
The village authority further warned that it would call indefinite bandh on NH-39 from May 7 if the demands are not fulfilled.
