12 hours general strike enforced

In protest against the bomb blast at Sangakpham Bazar yesterday that claimed the lives of five people including two girl students and injured others, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has called a 12-hour general strike with effect from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow.
Announcing this during a press conference at the headquarters of the student body here today afternoon, president of AMSU Thokchom Suraj strongly condemned the blast that claimed the lives of five people including two young girl students and appealed to all concerned to desist from committing such heinous crimes in the future.
AMSU has been constrained to call a 12-hour general strike from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow, Suraj said, while informing that medical, water supply, electricity, media, religious function, etc would be exempted from the purview of the general strike.
While appealing to all the people for support, the student leader has also warned that any individual who venture out in defiance of the general strike themselves should be responsible for any eventuality.
