Fear of the possible outbreak of the dreaded BQ disease, which mainly affects cows and buffaloes, has gripped the people of Kumbi and Wangoo areas of Bishnupur Dist following the sudden illness of a large number of cattle heads in the area.
Talking to The Sangai Express, a resident of Wangoo Chuthek Leikai identified as one A Ningthem informed that a large number of cattle in the area have been affected by this mysterious disease and added that one of his cows died today after showing symptoms of the dreaded BQ disease.
Despite the presence of a Veterinary sub centre in Wangoo area, the locals of the area are still unable to get proper facilities as the centre has become defunct, he added.
Contending that BQ disease is a very deadly disease and a cattle can die within 24 fours after getting infected, residents of the area appealed to the officials of the State Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dept to look into the matter and take up necessary measures.
