Imphal, January 19:
Ruling coalition partners, the Congress and the CPI walked away with the lion's share in the election held for eight Municipal Councils and 18 Nagar Panchayats, of which results were declared today.
Independent candidates emerged the third most successful.
Out of the five Municipal Councils, for which results were announced today, the Congress captured three.
The three councils are Jiribam, Kakching and Ningthoukhong.
Out of the 18 Nagar Panchayats results for 12 have been declared today.
Congress bagged six Panchayats, CPI and independents two each while RJD won at Wangoi and NCP at Samurou.
