Imphal, October 28 2019:
Former Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi has said that all the hill districts are part of Manipur and asserted that the Congress will never accept any terms or conditions which can harm the integrity of Manipur as a fall out of any agreement with the NSCN (IM) .
He made the statement after a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister through the Governor today.
At around 10.30 am today, CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh, former party president and MLA Gaikhangam, Congress MLAs and representatives, led by MPCC party president Moirangthem Okendro, submitted a memo to the PM and the Union Home Minister through Governor Dr Najma Heptulla.
Speaking to media persons in front of Raj Bhawan, Okram Ibobi lamented that the plan by the all political party delegates to head to Delhi to pressure the Central leaders to refrain from taking any decision which can impact the integrity of the State, has been put on hold.
He then commented that as the plan has been postponed on account of not getting appointment, it seems as if the plan is to head to Delhi after the Naga agreement has been signed and done for.
Ibobi claimed that the Congress party had wanted to go to Delhi, even if alone, but had decided against that as the Naga issue is a common problem for all and the Congress party had believed that the State Government would have made necessary arrangements for the all political party delegates to head to Delhi in the interest of the State.
The former Chief Minister continued that the Congress has submitted a memo to the Prime Ministter and the Union Home Minister cautioning against any impact to the integrity of the State and added that the Governor had assured to relay the said memo to its designated receivers immediately.
He said that all the hill districts are part of Manipur and all should rejoice when economic packages are provided by the Centre for the development of the State.
However, the party and the people will never accept any attempt to sow seeds of distrust and disunity among the people, he warned, adding that the party will wait for a response from the Central Government and if the Centre fails to respond in a positive way, the Congress party will resort to a series of action and programmes.
Ibobi said that the Naga peace talk has always created apprehension and doubts in the mind of the people of Manipur and the secrecy of the Framework Agreement signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India has not helped the matter in anyway.
