Huge python rescued

Imphal, April 28 2012:
Churachandpur district police personnel and locals hold a python weighing about 28 Kgs and 16 feet long.
The python was found at Gaothan under Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district.
Three villagers came across the giant snake at Gaothan, located about 40 Kms away from Leimatak in the afternoon of April 26 .
At its broadest portion, the python measures 1.5 feet in diameter.

The villagers reportedly came across the snake when it had just swallowed a goat and was unable move at its normal place.
The python was kept in Loktak police station for one day.
OC of the police station N Duidang brought the python and handed it over to the authority of Manipur Zoological Garden on April 28 .
