Imphal, June 26:
The State unit of the CPI today stated categorically that the party would soon launch a series of democratic movements against the decision of the Centre to extend the cease-fire between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India to Manipur.
It would cooperate with other parties and organisations on the issue.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the partys Executive Committee held today presided by the chairman of the CPI state control commission, Moirangthem Ibohal.
The meeting discussed in minute details the situation emerging after the decision to extend the cease-fire beyond the boundary of Nagaland.
Even though the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have assured that the territorial integrity of the State would not be affected the Centre has not committed itself to withdraw the cease-fire from Manipur, the meeting noted.
The stand of the Centre that it would review the developments following the cease-fire extension, instead of giving a clear cut answer to withdraw the cease-fire from Manipur, the meeting noted.
The stand of the Centre that it would review the development s following the cease-fire extensions instead of giving a clear cut answer to withdraw the cease-fire has only added to the confusion of the people.
It has also added fuel to the already volatile situation, said CPI.
Frontal organisations of the party including the AISF, AIYF and All Manipur Nupi Marup will also extend all possible cooperation in the movement to save the territorial integrity of the state, assured the Communist Party.
