Imphal, February 26 2019:
The Civil Engineering Examination conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineers was cut short and confusion ensued after an out of syllabus question was found in the question sheet of Paper 1 .
The candidates and guardians are now questioning the credibility of the MPSC after other errors were also allegedly found in the admit cards, question papers and answers scripts.
According to the candidates who took part in the examination, the Civil Engineering Examination was held at MPSC Hall and DM College of Teachers Education hall today.
The candidates claimed that paper I of today's examination contained an out of syllabus question and the questions for paper II were also found stapled to the said paper.
Enraged and disappoint at such unprofessional conduct, many of the candidates walked out of the exam halls and protested near the gate of the exam hall.
On the first day of the exam, February 24, examination of English and general studies were conducted.
Today and on February 28, engineering examinations were to be held, the candidates stated alleging that in a shocking goof up, the papers for February 28 examination were also mixed in today's paper.
On the other hand, a candidate said that such an unprofessional act on the part of a reputed body like MPSC is disappointing.
Claiming that all the hard work and hours put into preparing for the exam have been in vain, the candidate asked how anyone is supposed to write the answers for the February 28 exam today itself without any preparations.
The candidate further pointed out various inconsistencies like the words 'Paper B' on the question paper today being written by hand, the answer booklet finishing at page 32 when it was mentioned in the instruction that it would finish at page 48, writing Controller of Examination instead of Controller of Examination on the admit cards etc.
All of these silly and at other times grave mistakes, have really started to question the credibility and potential of the MPSC, he added.
